About Greg Buening: I'm married with 3 grown children and live in the "Queen City of the West", Cincinnati Ohio. I took up digital photography 20 years ago and worked my way through six digital cameras and a study of digital art. Photo art is like woodworking, where a piece is refined over and over until all signs of artifice are gone and only the art remains.
Artist Statement: I look for the unusual in the usual, the mystery in the mundane, and through that process, get a glimpse of beauty. The lens accepts whatever is before it, but the art is in where the camera is pointed and when the shutter is pressed. Composition, light, and focus are the instruments that play on our memories and emotions. The art continues in the digital darkroom where contrast & color affect mood, and enhancement affects meaning.
Recent Exhibit:
My spherical panorama, "Signs" was selected by the Clifton Cultural Arts Center for the Golden Ticket 2023 juried art exhibition. Out of 270 entries, there were 50 artists in all mediums accepted for the exhibit which will run from November 3rd to December 1st, 2023. The gallery hours for the Clifton Cultural Arts Center at 2728 Short Vine, Cincinnati, OH 45219 are: Tuesdays & Thursdays 3-8 PM, and Saturdays 9AM - 12PM.
